Leeds United have asked the Football League to set up a three-man tribunal to look into the 15-point penalty they suffered at the start of the season.
The club have been exploring every avenue to get rid of the penalty that was imposed after they went into administration.
The latest is for a tribunal with one member nominated by Leeds and the Football League under an independent chairman.
Such tribunals are usually held behind closed doors with the reasons for the decisions kept confidential but Leeds want that rule waived so that the public get to know exactly what is said.
Without the penalty, Leeds would now be 11 points clear at the top of the League One table.
