Alan Thompson accepts that, with his career coming towards its end, he needs every goal he can get.
The Leeds skipper was talking after his free-kick that earned a draw at Walsall was officially given to Ian Westlake because the ball flew in off the midfielder's shoulder.
"It does matter who scores - particularly when you haven't got long left playing," said Thompson.
"It did come off Westy's shoulder but it was always on target, although the most important thing is that we have the point."
Thompson could find he has many more chances to add to his career tally of 96 goals over the busy festive period when he may have to fill in for the injured Jonathan Douglas.
United are still waiting for the results of a scan on the knee Douglas twisted on Saturday but he may miss the whole of the Christmas and New Year period, which sees Leeds play five games.
