New manager Steve Kittrick wants to assert his character and stamp his influence at Guiseley now he has taken over - but he is in no rush and refuses to make changes for change sake.

"Everyone here will get their chance and if they prove to me that their desire is to play for Guiseley then they will remain in the squad," said Kittrick.

"The quality in the squad is there for everyone to see and that is a credit to the last two managers before me, Neil Parsley and Terry Dolan. I'm quite excited about working with the players because they are all very good.

"It will be interesting to see how they react to a change of manager. They don't know me but they will find I am very fair in every aspect of running a team.

"I'm delighted to be here as it is a big club with the scope to get even bigger."

Kittrick comes to Nethermoor from UniBond Premier Division rivals Ossett Town, where he did an excellent job with a modest budget.

He welcomes the opportunity offered to him by Guiseley to expand his horizons but remains as grounded as ever.

Kittrick said: "It is a different kind of pressure here than at my last club. I came in to find we have 11 contracted players, whereas at Ossett we had two.

"They are obviously a good group as well. You don't become promotion contenders in this division without working hard and having quality. They have lost only four games in the league this season before I got here.

"I hope the supporters give us time to settle in. I know the team lost the three league games immediately before we took over but hopefully we will steady the ship."

Kittrick has brought in former Bradford City youth and Bradford Park Avenue stalwart Wayne Benn as his number two and will be working alongside Mark Ellis - another former Bantam, who was assistant to former manager Dolan.

He said: "I have been at this level for five years and Wayne has been around the area playing and coaching since he left Valley Parade. This is his first season in management and he has been a great help to me.

"Mark has been at the club longer than both of us and he knows the squad and the ins and outs.

"Coaching is his forte and I have had a chat with him and he seems very committed to the cause and happy to remain doing the same role he has been doing for the last 12 months."
