Steve Kittrick feels like a boss in waiting after being denied a first opportunity to send out a Guiseley side at the weekend so he is straining at the leash ahead of tomorrow night.

His first match in charge, weather permitting, will now be at home as Frickley Athletic visit Nethermoor in the UniBond Premier Division.

Guiseley should have faced Ashton United on Saturday but their trip across the Pennines was shelved due to the storms that buffeted the country.

"I was disappointed as I wanted to get the show on the road," said Kittrick, who was only appointed last Wednesday.

He switched from divisional rivals Ossett Town and brought his assistant Wayne Benn with him.

Kittrick said: "Wayne and myself are very keen to get started. We couldn't get going at the weekend but that gave us chance to go and see Frickley play. I know a lot of their players and there was a bit of banter when they saw me there.

"Frickley are a good side and will make it difficult for us. You have to start somewhere and this is a good one for Wayne and myself. We are looking forward to it with nervous excitement."

Kittrick has taken training and picked the brains of Mark Ellis, the first-team coach left behind by former Guiseley manager Terry Dolan.

The new boss said: "It will be a makeshift side to an extent but there is enough quality in this squad to make sure that any team we put out will have talent and experience. What I have inherited is a very strong group of players.

"Simon Sturdy has flu and Danny Ellis has pulled a groin, so they are both definitely out but are the main absentees. There are one or two other doubts but we hope they will all be available."
