Jon Pepper praised the attitude of his City youth side after their 1-1 draw with Hartlepool was played in appalling conditions.
City kept trying to play good football throughout despite the soaked state of the Apperley Bridge pitch. And they took the lead after ten minutes when Aidy Bellamy headed home from a Louis Horne corner.
But the advantage was short-lived as Pools hit back after being given too much room in the home penalty area.
The heavy conditions made it increasingly tough for both sides but three times City went close to finding a winner in the final 20 minutes.
City youth: Filler, Bellamy, Bartle, Horne, Smith, Griffiths (Banks 20min), Bleau (Clarke 65min), Newton, Carson, Dean, Sheridan.
