A beauty from Kyle Nix earned City a deserved draw at a drenched Saltergate this afternoon.

The Bantams had failed to score on their three previous trips to Chesterfield. But Nix's 76th-minute equaliser proved worth the wait as he bent a superb left-foot curler into the top corner.

Chesterfield had taken the lead in the first half when Adam Rooney, on loan from Stoke, was left unmarked at a corner and nodded home at the near post.

The conditions were horrendous with the ball frequently holding up on the soaked conditions and the heavy rain did not let up until well into the second half.

Joe Colbeck made his first City start since September after being recalled from his loan spell with Darlington. And he almost capped it with a goal as he sent a 25-yard drive crashing against the underside of the bar.

Jamie Lowry missed a great chance to put Chesterfield 2-0 up but their three-month wait for another home win goes on. Not that City will be bothered after claiming a share of the spoils at a ground where they usually get nothing.

CITY: Ricketts, Williams, Wetherall, Clarke, Heckingbottom, Daley, Law, Evans, Nix, Colbeck, Thorne. Subs: Conlon, Ainge, Phelan, Ndumbu-Nsungu, Waite.
