West Bowling are searching for their first double of a troubled season when they meet fellow National Conference League Premier Division strugglers Thornhill at the Bankfoot Oval on Saturday.

The match has all the ingredients of being a bone-crusher' with the Trojans lying a comfortable six points ahead of Bowling in the third relegation spot.

But Richard Heseltine's men will fondly remember the 29-22 away success, which was a very physical encounter.

Centre Gavin Buckley and versatile forward Sha Basha return to the West squad in place of Keighley Cougar-bound Danny Murgatroyd and the suspended Ricky Helliwell, leaving Heseltine to ponder: "This is a massive game worth four' for the winners.

"We will have one of our strongest sides out for a long time and the lads will relish what will be our biggest challenge of the year, with the expected heavy conditions working in our favour."

Bradford Dudley Hill travel to old rivals Waterhead. Both teams were promoted to Division One this term, and while the Hill have set the competition alight with their fast open style of rugby to earn double billing with Wigan St Judes at the top, the Oldham side are treading water in second from bottom.

Hill coach Paul Baxter will decide who will fill the ill-fated No 9 jersey after losing Jimmy Hinnigan and Liam Jarvis with leg injuries in successive weeks.
