Victory for Farsley Celtic at Weymouth on Saturday would cut the gap between them and their hosts to two points and more importantly ensure they stay out of the relegation places.

With a visit from second-placed Torquay United on Wednesday, the Celts - just two points above the drop zone - know a good result against the team directly above them in the table is vital.

Caretaker manager John Deacey said: "I am hoping everything goes to plan because we are on the verge of bringing in another new signing in time to play but that will have to stay under wraps until it is completed."

Deacey has been in charge since Lee Sinnott departed for Port Vale and remains in contention to take over on a full-time basis but he has some stiff competition for the job, as chairman Andy Firbank explained.

"We are interviewing this week and have had some very good candidates. John is still in charge and nothing has happened that should weaken his claim. The players have been fully committed to the club and have put everything into every game.

"That goes for when Lee was here and since he has left, John has done what was expected and more. It is not about personalities though, it is about Farsley Celtic football club.

"That is what everyone is concerned about here at Throstle Nest. We have come a long way as a club and that is what we must safeguard. There are big decisions to make and that is why we will not be rushing anything."
