Leeds are hopeful that Danish international goalkeeper Casper Ankergren will recover from a knee injury in time to face Lee Sinnott's Port Vale at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

Ankergren missed the defeat at Cheltenham on November 25 after needing 17 stitches in a wound sustained in the first half of the home FA Cup first-round replay against Hereford.

His deputy, David Lucas, injured his neck in the build-up to Cheltenham's goal and is not yet fully fit so it is vital that Ankergren recovers in time to face rock-bottom Vale, who last month put former Farsley Celtic boss Sinnott in charge.

It will be a massive match for former Bradford defender Sinnott, whose men could only draw with non-league Chasetown in the FA Cup action today.

If he could save Vale from relegation this season it would be another big plus on Sinnott's impressive CV after he guided Farsley to three promotions in four seasons.

Leon Constantine is again expected to be missing for United with a toe injury but Tore Andre Flo could play some part after making his comeback with a substitute appearance against Cheltenham.

Flo said: "We created enough chances at Cheltenham but didn't take them. We played well and they scored just before the end from one of their very few chances, so we are still in good spirits and confidence is high."
