Winsford United 2, Silsden 2

Three goals in the last five minutes ensured the interest remained right until the final whistle four minutes into stoppage time but the sides could not be separated and had to settle for a point apiece in Vodkat League Division One.

The first half produced no goals but the stalemate was soon broken as the Cobbydalers took the lead 45 seconds into the second half.

A weak back-header gave Silsden striker Lee Reilly something to chase and he beat the home keeper to it before chipping the ball into the net.

The late drama started when the Silsden players appealed for a throw-in. It was overruled by the officials, the ball was played into the area and, after two blocked efforts, Winsford substitute Lee Maddin slotted in the equaliser.

Martin Packer got behind the home defence two minutes later to convert a low cross from Graham Holmes.

Then, in the penultimate minute, Winsford gained possession from a poor clearance and Maddin danced into a good position but had the composure to lay the ball to Les Miranda, who levelled the scores.

"It was about even on clear-cut chances so a draw is probably fair," said Cobbydalers boss Paul Schofield.

"We got a point from a tough away fixture but it feels so flat. When you are a goal up five minutes from time, or have come back from a late goal to lead 2-1 with seconds to go, you think you are on the way to three points."
