THERE was success at the Clubman's Championship for two golfers from rival Bradford clubs.
West Bradford star Steve Gallagher won the Bracken Ghyll tournament, with a four over par gross score of 73, beating South Bradford's Shaun Smedley by one stroke.
But Smedley still had the honour of the best net score, with his handicap of 11 allowing him to post 63, which was two better than Robert Wagner (Fulneck), whose net total was 65.
It even trumped the impressive field at the Bradford Open earlier in the month. Seventy-seven played in that contest at Keighley Golf Club, but 119 turned out at Bracken Ghyll.
Unlike the Bradford Open, which was played on a windy day, the Bracken Ghyll tournament took place in near perfect conditions.
