CITY'S Connor Shanks has been named in a side featuring the best young talent at EFL clubs in the 2019/20 season.

The League Football Education's 'The 11' acknowledges both the football and academic progress of under-18 scholars at EFL clubs while also assessing other factors including involvement in community or charity-based initiatives.

The second-year scholar has earned his place in the team for efforts on and off the pitch.

Though still to make his competitive first-team debut, Shanks did feature in the Bantam's pre-season friendlies against Liverpool and Bradford (Park Avenue) last July.

During the 2019/20 campaign, 33 apprentices have been selected for the award, which celebrates the holistic development of young players.

Notable academy graduates to have earned places in the side in the past include Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, ex City striker Oli McBurnie and Tottenham's Ryan Sessegnon.

'The 11' - June 2020 is as follows: Connor Shanks (Bradford City), Carl Johnston (Fleetwood Town), Alex Henderson (Ipswich Town), Stuart McKinstry (Leeds United), Wynford Marfo (Leyton Orient), Ziyad Al-Oyouni (Lincoln City), Ollie Leach (Milton Keynes Dons), Ryan Smith (Northampton Town), Alex Aoraha (Queens Park Rangers), Alex Bonnington (Sheffield Wednesday), Yasin Arai (Stevenage).
