STUART McCall has today paid tribute to former City player and manager Trevor Cherry, who died yesterday aged 72.
"Trevor was a great inspiration as a player, manager and person," said the Bantams boss, who played with Cherry at Valley Parade and then for him.
"He had a huge influence on my career, both when I watched him playing and, more importantly, when I was fortunate enough to play under and alongside him in my early years as a professional.
"He was the best tackler I have ever played with. His determination, perfect timing and reading of the game made him impassable at times.
"I will always be indebted to the influence he had on me as a youngster trying to make a career in the game.
"My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, family and friends at this sad time. He will be greatly missed by us all."
