THE local bowling season gets underway, weather permitting, on Sunday with the annual open at Craven BC, where 44 hardy souls go to post at 10am.
Locals are joined from far and wide by many stars, in a competition that will take some winning. The draw will take place at greenside.
10am: J Mordue, B Stockdale, P Hepworth, G Flower, P Hillam, D Hemsley, M Duke and K Lee.
10.45am: M Sweeney, A Riley, L Teale, D Hodgson, J Benson, D Poole, G Hodge and R Hargreaves.
11.30am: M Holden, M Regan, J Teale, B Turnbull, J Edmondson, T Cater, P Worsnop and A Webb.
12.00pm: A Buckley, R Hatzer, S Edmondson, D Teale, A Raymond, A Varley, G Lomax and V O’Donnell.
12.30pm: C Mordue, J Stockdale, S Walker and D Norris.
More sad news for local players is the death of Jack Beresford of Broughton Road. He played for the club some years ago, battled hard and never complained about the result.
This is the second blow for the club following the recent death of chief supporter, Barbara Mason. Condolences to all concerned.
