Fans of Silsden’s Danny Whitaker packed out the Red Lion to support their local hero knock out the favourite of a TV boxing event.
‘Big Dawg’ defied the odds to outpoint Jonathan Palata over the three-round distance in only his third professional fight in the Ultimate Boxxer event at the Manchester Ice Arena.
Despite being knocked out by eventual winner Nick Webb in the semis, overall it was a successful night for the 28-year-old live on BT Sport.

Speaking about the support he has received from his hometown, he said: “I have seen the video and the place erupted it was absolute scenes when I beat Jonathan (Palata), it was something else.
“I would just like to thank everyone for the support especially in the Silsden pubs; the Red Lion and the Robin Hood which were packed out.”
