JULIAN Rhodes wants to see 20,000 season-ticket holders at Valley Parade after City opted to freeze their low prices.

Next year will be the 14th season that the club have had a cut-price ticket policy with adults still paying only £150 – the equivalent of just over £6 per game.

The Bantams currently have around 13,500 season-ticket holders despite dropping back into League Two.

And Rhodes believes keeping the same prices for a longer ticket campaign, which will run for the next five months, could see figures soar again.

The City chief executive said: “I’ve always had this ambition to get to 20,000 season-ticket holders. You’ve got to set ambitious targets and why not?

“We did well with the campaign last year on the back of an horrendous season.

“If we keep the prices down, coupled with the fact we are doing well in the league at the moment with one of the best home records in the division, then I’d like to think we can improve substantially.

“The first season in 2007-2008 we set a target of 10,000 and everybody said we’d never get that. But we passed that.

“We’ve done over 18,000 before and okay we’ve slipped down but now we are talking about hopefully getting to 20,000 at some point.

“Then of course, people will say we’ve got no chance. But they said the same when we aimed for 10,000 all those years ago.”

Rather than running an early-bird scheme, season-tickets will go on sale from now until the end of May at the original prices.

Rhodes added: “Because we don’t do half-year season tickets, there are people who like to buy them as a Christmas present.

“The campaign is going all the way through to the end of May so it also allows for anyone who wants to wait and see what division we are in next season.

“It’s not really been launched on the back of us doing well at home. We wanted a long campaign.

“It also gives fans the opportunity to save up for a few months as well and what we’ve seen in the past is that the longer the campaign, the better you do.

“Let’s try and get as many as possible. We have called the campaign ‘City for all’ so we want as many people as we can.”

City’s form at Valley Parade this season has been among the best in the division with 22 points from their 10 home games so far.

Rhodes has no doubt that the largest crowds in League Two are a big factor in that.

“It clearly has a positive impact,” he said. “Having as full a stadium as possible and generating that atmosphere has a great effect on the players.”

While fans aged 16 and over will still pay £150, under-16 prices remain at £100 and under-11s £25, with a free junior Bantams membership included.

Flexicards are available for £50 to reserve a seat with an extra £10 to pay at the turnstiles on matchdays for adults and £5 for under-16s. Under-11s pay nothing on top of the initial fee. City's 25-yearers pay £125, which includes either a free flexi-card or suite upgrade.
