CHRIS Taylor can be a huge asset for City during the Christmas rush.
That’s the belief of boss Gary Bowyer as his side head into a potentially hectic couple of months.
Today’s blank at Colchester because of the Essex club’s international call-ups means another rearranged game to fit in.
The Bantams have already rescheduled their trip to Macclesfield for a week on Tuesday after last month’s postponement.
Bowyer is going to need everyone available with his squad continuing to be held back by injury.
So midfielder Taylor’s belated arrival could not have come a moment too soon.
Bowyer said: “It will be tough in the next couple of months with the amount of fixtures we’re obviously going to have.
“So, we’re delighted to have Chris available for that. It’s a huge relief for us and, most importantly for him, that we got it done.
“He can play anywhere in the forward positions. You saw he showed bits of his quality the other night.”
The Taylor saga was finally resolved on Monday after it seemed that his planned move to City would be strangled by red tape following an appearance for Barrow while training there.
But the EFL eventually decided that they were satisfied with the situation and withdrew the threat of any future points punishment against the Bantams if they played him.
Bowyer added: “Chris has been here a long time since pre-season.
“Because of how long it took, he’s obviously missed time on the pitch. He needs to play catch-up a little bit.
“He was devastated when it looked like it wasn’t going to happen. So you can imagine how delighted he is not to finally get it sorted.
“We’re just glad the EFL looked into it more and came to their decision.
“We’ve got it over the line and I know he can be an important player for us.”
Taylor has signed with City until mid-January on an initial short-term deal.
But he is not eligible for the FA Cup replay with Shrewsbury at Valley Parade on Tuesday because he had not been registered before the original tie.
