ARAMIDE Oteh is happy to be City’s flexible friend after once again showing his adaptability in the 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury.

Oteh has already featured as a centre-forward and a winger for the Bantams this season and he caught the eye in yet another role as his side earned a replay in the FA Cup first round.

He scored City’s goal while playing in the Number 10 position behind James Vaughan.

And after Vaughan went off injured early in the second half, Oteh adapted again, playing up front alongside an unfamiliar partner in Dylan Connolly.

The on-loan QPR man took it all in his stride though, saying: “Sometimes you have to play in positions you’re not used to to get into the team and help them out.

“I prefer to play as a (number) nine, I am a nine, but if I have to do a job to help the team, I’ll do it happily.”

He added: “Dylan and I train together every day so we know each other’s game. We just tried to feed off each other, with one spinning behind and one coming short.

“I thought it worked quite well. We just were unlucky not to get the second really.”

Oteh did at least get the first for the Bantams though, with the young forward explaining his goal by saying: “I saw the keeper was quite far off his line.

“I thought the best way to finish it was to dink it over him and then relax and put it into an empty net.”

Asked if he was particularly proud of scoring for City in such a prestigious competition, Oteh said: “Every young boy that enjoys football watches the FA Cup.

“I’m a Spurs fan, so I’ve been to plenty of, I can’t really say finals, but semi-finals. Just the atmosphere walking down Wembley Park, it’s an incredible thing really.”

That FA Cup strike was Oteh’s third goal in five games, and the youngster was in a positive mood when talking about how things were going at City.

He said: “I’m enjoying it. From the first time I came in, every one of the players, staff and coaches were all welcoming.

“I’m just happy to be contributing and giving back the faith the club have shown in me.

“I haven’t really had the opportunity of playing regularly (at QPR), so it was a big thing for me to get out and get some games under my belt.

“I’m thankful to be doing that now here at Bradford and I’m just happy to be scoring goals and contributing.”

Oteh can expect plenty more chances over the coming weeks, with Clayton Donaldson sidelined for a lengthy period, while City have yet to reveal the extent of Vaughan’s ankle injury.

Shay McCartan could return to action this week in the EFL Trophy at home to Rochdale.
