ERIC Perez says he will be with the Bulls for a matter of months not years after expressing his love for the club.

The Toronto Wolfpack founder was appointed interim chairman of the consortium which has taken over the Bulls, which also includes former Rugby Football League chief executive Nigel Wood and Dewsbury Rams chairman Mark Sawyer.

The charismatic Canadian says he has already secured a sponsorship deal and he will be working on more to boost the profile of the Bulls.

Perez says he will be based in Bradford during his spell with the club, whom he fell in love with after watching his first rugby league game on television when Brian Noble was in charge of Bulls.

Perez said: "I will be here for a matter of months, not years.

"I'm doing this for the sport and for Bradford which is my adopted second home.

"We have secured major sponsorship, subject to paperwork.

"What I do know about the club is that there are lifelong rugby league people who have dedicated their lives to it and there are true Bradfordians coming in for the love of the club.

"I set up Toronto and Toronto are now in the Super League. I totally admire the passion and support for the club that the fans have. There have been a few different regimes at the club.

"There is a lot of good to focus on, particularly last season

"I'm doing this for the love of the sport and the love of Bradford.

"I'm here to facilitate the transfer from the old ownership to the new ownership.

"I will bring some of my commercial and marketing expertise to the club."

Once his role with Bulls is completed, Perez still plans to boost the profile of rugby league in his native Canada when Ottawa enter the English set-up in Betfred League One in 2021.

Perez bought the license for League One Hemel Stags and is in the process of relocating the club across the Atlantic.

This move was put back a year by the RFL, which has meant Perez has the chance to take up his post with Bradford.
