CHRIS Taylor's move to City has not gone through.
The midfielder agreed terms to join the Bantams last week as a free agent - but the deal cannot be finalised because of a registration issue.
There is uncertainty surrounding a Lancashire Cup tie in which Taylor featured for Barrow after the transfer window had closed.
The 32-year-old had not agreed terms with the non-league club or signed any form of contract.
But talks with the FA and EFL could not confirm Taylor's eligibility to play for City - and whether points would be deducted if he did.
City director of communications Ryan Sparks said: "Chris was unaware that his appearance for Barrow could have any effect on him becoming a Bradford City player.
"He was of the impression he was playing as a trialist."
Fans were surprised not to see Taylor in the squad against Port Vale last night.
