WIBSEY, who only travelled with 16 men, gave a superb defensive display to triumph 13-7 at Sheffield Medicals in Yorkshire Division Three.
While the visitors had the edge in the pack, they were up against a lively set of backs and had to manage for 20 minutes with only 14 men after Harry Hall (high tackle) and Michael Kite (late tackle) were both sent to the sin-bin.
Player-coach Andy Robinson, turning out at flanker, gave Wibsey the lead with a 10th-minute penalty but Medics immediately cashed in with a converted try when Hall had his 10-minute breather in the 24th minute.
However, the visitors led 8-7 at the interval courtesy of a fine try by man-of-the-match Ryan Smith, who danced through the opposition.
Wibsey survived the yellow card to Kite more easily, even adding to their lead with a try by debutant winger Adam Wright in the 65th minute, but they were hanging on at the end after Robinson missed a 70th-minute penalty.
