YEADON’S hopes of making an immediate return to Bradford Premier League Championship One were dealt a body blow by relegation-threatened Liversedge.

Sama Farooq (4-4) and Graeme Winn (3-29) helped bowl out the Championship Two promotion chasers for 121 as their side secured a surprise 18-run win.

Liversedge were indebted to Qaiser Hameed (37) and Sohail Hussain (37) for their total of 139. Runs weren’t easy to come by against spinners James Massheder (6-46) and Gareth Lee (3-37), but they scored enough to pull off an upset.

Yeadon’s defeat was seized on by Birstall, who replaced them in second place after skittling out Spen Victoria for 51 to complete a massive 241-run win. The chief destroyer was former Spen bowler James Russell (5-20).

Birstall are now seven points ahead of Yeadon and their batsmen were again in the runs as Spen Victoria were put to the sword.

Josh Haynes (88), Rishy Limbechaya (71no), Nick Kaye (52) and Ashley Burton (48) led the way with Limbechaya and Burton sharing a fourth-wicket partnership of 109 as their side compiled 292-5.

Table-topping Carlton were given a few anxious moments by lowly Altofts before completing a 12-run win which gives them a nine-point lead.

Arman Hussain produced a decisive spell of 5-32 as Carlton bowled out their opponents for 169, Dominic Richardson (44) top scoring.

Carlton’s total of 181 owed much to another important contribution from overseas player Kershaski John Lewis. He top scored with 79 as Darren Sharp (3-45) and Danny Eden (3-46) posed the main threat.

Buttershaw St Paul’s are running into form in fourth place. Their latest win was by 70 runs against Northowram Fields and was set up by Amer Ayoub’s knock of 89 which helped them post 251-8.

Wicketkeeper batsman Kyle Welsh made an unbeaten 73 in Northowram Fields’ reply of 181. Welsh was joined in a spirited last-wicket stand of 56 by Joseph Hough (34). Lee Barker (4-35) and skipper James Sawyer (3-23) helped secure Buttershaw St Paul’s' latest win.

The Pearson brothers, Ashley (6-31) and Adam (3-29), joined forces to bowl out bottom team Adwalton for 83 to clinch a 59-run win for East Ardsley.

The East Ardsley total of 142 owed much to a knock of 67 from former Baildon and Hanging Heaton batsman Simon Davies.

Bowling Old Lane eased their relegation fears by chasing down a Hunslet Nelson score of 230-9 to win by three wickets.

Abid Alishan (56), Ayyaz Akram (50), Zeeshan Haider (51) and Ahsan Alishan (39) all played their parts in the successful run chase which was completed with 9.3 overs to spare.

Hunslet Nelson’s innings had been built upon an opening stand of 142 between Andrew McIntosh (84) and Jack Scanlon (65). Once they were parted Muhammed Yasir (6-48) slowed Nelson’s progress.

Half-centuries from Mohammed Rehman (52no) and Tom Watson (52) helped Jer Lane secure a seven-wicket win over Hopton Mills.

Amjid Khan (4-42) had been the best of the Jer Lane bowlers when Mills, despite the efforts of Michael Carroll (39) and Mark Ashton (35), were bowled out for 142.
