VICTORY was cruelly snatched from the grasp of Wibsey Warriors after a last gasp try.
The Warriors defended their posts at home against Stanningley in a Division Two Yorkshire Men's League battle where the spoils were shared at 22-22.
Stanningley were the first on the scoreboard after just two minutes, when winger Lyle Wilson fielded a deep kick, ghosted on the outside of the Warriors defence before selling a clever dummy that opened up his way to the line.
Ryan Taylor somehow missed the conversion in front of the sticks, an error that was to prove costly come the end of the game.
The Warriors worked their way into the game and were able to gain field position follow a couple of penalties.
Wibsey managed a try from that position, but couldn't convert.
Minutes later though, the hosts were in the lead when Conor McParland and Ryan Goldsborough combined, with the latter outpacing the Stanningley defenders to score out wide.
The former did even more favours for Wibsey by adding the extras to make it 10-4.
But, the Warriors were under pressure following a knock on and Stanningley took it level thanks to a James Devine try and Kyle Furner conversion.
Wibsey went into the break with a 16-10 slender advantage after putting more points on the board and a last-ditch Joshua Chamberlain tackle stopping Stanningley from encroaching on the lead.
The second-half opened with a superb solo effort from Goldsborough who picked up the ball in his own twenty-five and broke the defensive line to race the length of the field to score.
With McParland adding the extras once more, the Warriors held a healthy 22-10 lead.
Both sides had chances then, but on the hour mark Stanningley's Joshua Adams got the first of what was to prove to be two crucial tries.
He busted the line 25 yards out and left Furner with an easy conversion to make it 22-16.
The tension could be felt in the home crowd and they were right to be nervous.
A mistake from the Warriors, allowed Adams to strike again, in the dying seconds.
The loose forward spoiled the party by breaking the line off a short ball and crashing over the whitewash.
Furner made no mistake with an easy kick and the game was tied at 22-22.
The Warriors players were deflated by the late comeback in the scorching sunshine and had to settle for a share of the spoils as the final whistle blew.
Wibsey are now seven adrift of the promotion places after the stalemate, but remain in control of their destiny at the bottom, sitting five clear of the relegation zone.
The side have a tough game next up though, travelling to second-placed Ossett Trinity Tigers who have only lost one game.
