LEIGH Beattie insists his side’s ‘massive test’ against Huddersfield Giants tomorrow will stand them in good stead – believing they will benefit from the experience from the ‘curtain raiser’ at Odsal Stadium.
Our Under-19s take on Huddersfield Giants prior to the men’s clash with Halifax this weekend – with kick-off at noon.
The Academy outfit go into the game on the back of a narrow, last-gasp defeat at London Broncos, but head coach Beattie admits he has been pleased with his young side’s development throughout the current campaign.
“It is a massive game – Huddersfield have not lost in seven and are more experienced than us with some players who have played Super League,” said Beattie.
“They obviously have Olly Wilson too so they are a big side and we are still quite young and inexperienced.
“It is all about development at this stage and I am pleased with how we have come on so far as we come up to the halfway stage.
“We will always compete – we are working on a lot and trying to fix some things up but the development is there.
“Just like the Leeds game it will be a great experience for them to play as part of such a big occasion and that experience will stand them in good stead.
“It was great to see them on the pitch after the game celebrating, there is a real togetherness about this club and experiencing that winning feeling will motivate them even more.”
