IDLE are within touching distance of promotion to the Yorkshire Amateur League Championship after bouncing back from successive defeats.
In their last home game of the season, Idle hosted Farsley Celtic Juniors knowing they needed a victory to keep apace with second-place Collegians.
The hosts duly delivered, but it was a tight affair with the pendulum swinging to and fro.
Idle went behind initially when Jacob Kellet hit home for the visitors.
But the score sat level at 1-1 come the break, after substitute Callum Churn responded with a goal of his own.
It was a case of goals galore in the second half which saw Idle run out as 4-3 winners.
Churn scored all of his side's remaining goals, taking his tally to four in the game, meaning strikes from Mark Brady and Jamie Kemp were little more than consolations.
Idle now move within one point of promotion rivals Collegians, but the end outcome still remains in the latter's hands with two to play.
It could be all change come the weekend though, as Idle face a comparatively easy fixture against bottom-placed Leeds Medics & Dentists Thirds.
Whereas Collegians take a trip to in-form leaders Amaranth Crossgates.
In the Premier Division, Athletico lifted the shackles of relegation threat with an impressive 5-1 victory away at Horsforth St. Margarets.
The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute, but Horsforth showed some resilience and drew level on the half hour mark.
Once Athletico had added their second goal in the 50th minute it was one way traffic with goals coming at regular intervals.
The star for the visitors was Mohammed Qasim who notched four goals, taking his season tally to 28 goals in just 20 games.
Adeeb Jawad got the fifth for his side.
It was bad news for Division Three Prospect in the final of The Hancock Cup.
They came up against fellow division rivals New Middleton, who have stormed the league this season.
That much was clear in this result, with Prospect succumbing to a 8-2 loss.
The writing was on the cards when New Middleton went into the break 5-0 up.
Second half goals for Prospect from Liam Goodaire and Jamel Nash proved only to be consolation.
In the basement division, Tyersal Reserves ended their season with a 5-3 win away at third-placed Old Batelians.
An Adrian Lowther brace, as well as single goals for Brian Hands, James McCloughlin and Timmy McCloughlin, secured the victory.
The win means the side finish in fifth.
