SAM Hallas insists he and his team-mates are well prepared to tackle a ‘tough and skilful’ Rochdale Hornets outfit – in the final game of an intense Easter schedule tomorrow.

The 22-year-old has featured in all three games across Easter – showcasing his versatility in the defeats of Featherstone Rovers, Halifax and Barrow Raiders.

John Kear’s side are currently on a six-match winning run stretching back to March, with the Hornets visiting Odsal this weekend.

He looks set to feature again at nine following the injury to George Flanagan, with Hallas hoping to fill the ‘mantle’ left by the lively hooker.

“We have had a couple of days off after Easter – we have got four points on the back of it and we now we could not be more ready for Rochdale,” said Hallas.

“We have performed well too – we have had a few off patches but the majority of the Easter period we have played quite well.

“Rochdale have a really big pack, they will be tough and skilful and fingers crossed we can get the two points.

“Every team poses a new test in the Championship so we will have to be on our mettle – it is a good division with a lot of quality.

“Every shirt was up for grabs in pre-season and I have managed to grab a shirt whether that is at nine or at 13 I am happy to help out.

“Obviously now I would rather George was playing but I will fill in the best I can in the meantime and hopefully I can fill that mantle.”
