BRIGHOUSE Town U21s lost their West Riding County FA Development League Cup quarter-final on penalties at home to Ossett United after the tie had ended 2-2.
Both sides played different styles with Brighouse getting the ball down while Ossett were much more direct.
Although Brighouse slightly shaded the first half, it was Ossett who took the lead through Daniel Youel.
The second half saw Brighouse moving Luke Cranswick into the number 10 role and they immediately began to dominate the game.
On the hour mark, Brighouse equalised when Regan Metcalf was fouled inside the penalty area and Finn Donovan stepped up to convert the spot kick.
Town went ahead in the 68th minute through Cranswick and they looked the more comfortable side.
Ossett relied on hitting Brighouse on the break and they did so in the 87th minute when Myles Foley equalised. The tie went to penalties and Ossett kept their nerve to go through 4-3.
Brighouse assistant manager Barry Thomas said: “It was a very good cup tie between two excellent teams and the match was played in a fine sporting manner."
Campion U21s were knocked out of the League Cup when they lost 2-0 at Liversedge. Ben Harley and Tariq Richards scored the goals for Sedge.
Bradford (Park Avenue) U19s remained at the bottom of the Northern Alliance League following their 6-1 loss at Huddersfield YMCA. The goalscorers for Huddersfield were Dan Parr (2), Ben Harley, Thomas Brook, Ben Mellor and Sandy Masuku.
Avenue manager Dave Haley said "Although we lost 6-1, I can't fault the effort and commitment from the players.
"Harry Holmes played very well again at centre half and he topped his performance off with the goal of the game - a 30-yard screamer into the top corner of the net.
"Defensively we need to be better and although we created some great chances, our end product needs to be better."
