BRADFORD billiards team player Steve Wilman has sadly passed away after a short battle with lung cancer.
His funeral takes place on Wednesday, February 27 at Park Wood in Elland at 10.30am, followed by a wake at the Harold Club in Low Moor.
Steve was a current member of the Bradford billiards side and had represented them for many years.
His dedication and commitment to the side was invaluable to captain Stephen Kershaw and, with the experience gained from representing his city, his game improved enormously and his confidence rose, making the Bradford final in 2015.
One of his greatest achievements was becoming Yorkshire Billiards Handicap champion only last year, as well as qualifying for the last 32 of this season's English Championships, which ironically were played on the weekend of his death.
A minute's silence was observed by all the players at the event for someone who gained a lot of respect and friends with his cheery personality and his willingness to learn, but above all his respect for everyone regardless of their abilities on the table.
Steve was a regular spectator at all the Bradford and Yorkshire finals nights, not just with billiards but also snooker, and he will be greatly missed throughout the leagues by all who came to know him. Condolences to his family and close friends.
