THE TWO Embassy Yeadon teams in Division Two of the Bradford Table Tennis League occupy the top two places in the table.
Embassy Yeadon C are in a strong position following their clash at promotions rivals Hermits C.
The two previous meetings between the pair this season ended with a 6-4 win for each side but the third encounter was a one-sided affair.
Hermits were a man short and paid the penalty as Embassy Yeadon C stormed to a 9-1 success with Ian Marshall and Tony Boyd unbeaten.
There is now a 13-point gap between the two teams, with Embassy Yeadon D in second place - 10 points ahead of Hermits C despite going down to a 6-4 defeat to Highdale B.
In Division Four promotion rivals Hermits I and Unity C went head to head and, in a tight contest, Unity suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
Hermits raced into a 4-1 lead as George Raine and Stewart Varley both won their first two singles.
Unity hit back to level the match at 4-4 as Ayub Hussain won two and Mark Tattersfield and Michael Walker both won one.
But Hermits had the man of the match as Raine completed his treble in the last single against Tattersfield and, in an exciting deciding doubles, George and Mick Raine overcame Tattersfield and Hussain 12-10 in the deciding game.
Hermits are in second spot and are eight points clear of Unity but they are six behind leaders Baildon D, who were 7-3 winners over Hermits K.
