CLECKHEATON made the short journey to West Leeds hoping to gain a first North One East victory in 2019 after a solid performance last time out against Morpeth - but they were easily beaten 33-5.
The visitors had the same squad as last time, just positional changes showing Ryan Piercy and Josh Plunkett on the bench with Brad Marsden moving to second row and Joey Carley at open side flanker.
The first score came when Cleckheaton launched an attack down the right but a sloppy pass by Swetman led to West Leeds No 8 George Carpenter intercepting near halfway and he crossed in the left corner.
The Moorenders had to reorganise when their scrum half left the field with a rib injury. Wilson filled in there and Hayward went to full back as Plunkett entered from the bench.
On 24 minutes, after the hosts knocked on close to their own line from the scrum, Jack Seddon powered over on the blind side in the right corner for his eighth try of the season to level the score at 5-5.
Cleckheaton conceded a penalty for offside in front of the posts and Keir Breakwell put the 30 metre kick over to put West Leeds back in front.
Hayward made a terrific break down the right only to be felled by a high tackle by Calderwood, who was dispatched to the sin bin as half-time approached.
Early in the second half West Leeds scored a try wide on the left after good control by the forwards. The conversion by Breakwell was good from the touchline as the hosts went 15-5 up.
Calderwood exposed a gap in Cleck's right side defence to cross for another try and, when Breakwell added a penalty on 70 minutes after another ruck offence, the Bradford side had their backs to the wall.
Cleckheaton had their best spell of the game at this point and were camped in the opposition 22 for a spell.
But after a penalty and with Plunkett in the the sin bin, West Leeds got possession from a line-out and Calderwood crossed for his second try to give his team a bonus-point win.
West Leeds got a final try to put the game to bed on 80 minutes.
This was a disappointing result for Cleck, with ineffective tackling and the final pass not going to hand.
York visit Moorend on Saturday, with Cleckheaton desperately needing a morale-boosting victory to pull away from the lower half of the table.
