TEMPERATURES have dropped and freezing conditions often wreak havoc with amateur football over winter.
But with the mercury due to rise over the next few days there is hope all this Saturday's West Riding County Amateur fixtures will be fulfilled.
Most of the leagues twelve teams are now over half-way through the season, and should the weather stay kind, the league could be completed by the time Easter comes in late April.
The tie of the weekend is a Bradford derby between second placed TVR United and mid-table Bradford Olympic.
TVR are riding high in the league, but know it's likely only a win will keep them in the race for the title as leaders Golcar United take on Lepton Highlanders who are struggling at the foot of the table.
TVR sit in a strong position with two games in hand on Huddersfield-based Golcar, but a loss for them and a win for the leaders this weekend could leave them ten points adrift.
The Bradford side will hope Golcar's league leading goalscorer Buddy Cox, who has 29 for the season so far, has an off day.
Lower Hopton are the only top five team to have a home fixture tomorrow and welcome fifth place Steeton Reserves who have won their last two league games.
Hopton, who sit five adrift of TVR in third, need a win to cling onto their slim hopes of battling for top spot, with only seven games left in their season and a gap of 12 points to climb level with the leaders at this stage.
Strugglers PFC will host a Littletown side at Bradford University, who also have championship ambitions given they have played the second least amount of games in the league so far but still sit in fourth.
PFC may be slightly rusty having not played since January 12 thanks to two postponements, and the side have only one league win in their last seven.
Elsewhere, Toller FC will play Ryburn at the Thornton Recreation Ground and Route One Rovers will take the trip to Halifax to meet strugglers Ovenden West Riding.
