BRADFORD (Park Avenue) have secured a deal for a goalkeeper from four divisions above them.
Their first foray into the transfer market in January sees Avenue sign Hull City youngster Charlie Andrew (pictured) on loan until the end of the season.
The move comes after Avenue’s 33-year-old goalkeeper Steven Drench left on a permanent transfer to league rivals Altrincham on Monday.
Andrew, who only turned 19 this month, is yet to make an appearance for the Championship side despite signing his first professional deal with the Tigers last summer.
But, he has lots of experience across multiple youth levels, including 18 appearances for Hull City’s Under-18s side.
More impressively the 6ft keeper has made the step up to play for the Under-23 squad on 13 occasions.
Andrew’s experience doesn’t end there. He spent the 2017/18 season at Pickering Town where he made 26 appearances in a run that led to the side’s first ever promotion to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One East.
His impressive performance between the sticks that season saw him named as Pickering’s Player of the Year at the tender age of 18.
Andrew returned to the Pikes for the first half of this season’s campaign, and continued his fine form with 10 clean sheets in 34 appearances.
The youngster took to Twitter this afternoon to give his thanks to Pickering, while also expressing excitement for the challenge ahead in the Vanarama National League North.
He said: “Thanks to everyone at Pickering Town FC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your club. Really enjoyed my time as a Pike, especially promotion. All the best for the rest of the season.
“On the other hand, really excited to join Bradford (Park Avenue) and can’t wait to get started.”
