BRADFORD Bulls have a Yorkshire Cup final to look forward to.
They beat Dewsbury Rams 20-18 in a see-saw semi-final at chilly Odsal tonight and will meet the winners of tomorrow’s Batley Bulldogs v York City Knights tie on a date and venue to be decided next weekend.
John Kear’s side, who split their resources between this match and tomorrow’s Michael Lawrence testimonial at Huddersfield Giants, made a great start with a try by second-row forward Elliot Minchella in the fourth minute after a searing break by hooker Matty Wildie.
Joe Keyes added the goal but the visitors dominated the last ten minutes of the half and bagged tries by former Bull Paul Sykes and scrum half Lewis Heckford, with Sykes adding both goals.
But the Bulls were equally on top early in the second half and took the lead with tries by winger Rhys Evans and Minchella, with Rowan Milnes’ two goals putting the home side 18-12 ahead.
An Owen Harrison try that was improved by Dale Morton levelled affairs once again just after the hour but Bradford crucially nosed in front seven minutes later with a Milnes penalty that proved decisive, and their tackling then saw them home.
