CITY have confirmed midfielder Lewis O’Brien will return to full training next week after scans ruled out serious injury.
The 20-year-old was subbed during the first half of the Bantams' 3-0 victory over Accrington on New Year's Day following a heavy challenge from Stanley striker Offrande Zanzala, who was sent off.
Boss David Hopkin was optimistic that the Huddersfield youngster had avoided a long-term injury and tests have backed that up. O'Brien has bruising to his ankle and has had stitches to repair shin damage but should hopefully be fit to face Barnsley next week.
Meanwhile, Luca Colville and Kelvin Mellor will be back in contention later this month and Hope Akpan is likely to be available for selection from next week.
Sean Scannell is still recovering from a back injury, while Jake Reeves is continuing outdoor fitness work after completing a lengthy rehabilitation programme.
