Greg Abbott has been appointed the new head of football operations at Mansfield Town.
The 55-year-old, who left City earlier this season having been head of recruitment and then assistant under Michael Collins and David Hopkin, will link up with manager David Flitcroft at the League Two club.
Stags’ boss David Flitcroft said: “This is a forward-thinking appointment.
“As we approach the opening of the January transfer window, I have been inundated with phone calls from agents as well as sporting and technical directors.
“Greg will be dealing with this type of communication at a football level, whilst the final say on recruitment will remain with me, which is important.
“Greg will be based at the new training complex, which will give him a clear, first-hand experience of the football platform which is being built and which he will now enhance.”
