BRADFORD'S David Forrest raced to victory in the Northern Historic Rally Championship.
The 1976 Ford Escort Mark 2, sponsored by M1 Motorparts and Millers Oils Ltd of Brighouse, won the championship outright after beating almost 40 competitors to first place.
The championship takes place throughout various locations including North Yorkshire, Cumbria and across the border into Scotland.
The final part of the championship was held last weekend in the Lake District and leading into the final leg, Forrest and Carter were level on points with an opposing car and needed the victory to claim the title.
Forrest built the rally car himself and therefore, has excellent knowledge of the car he competes in for every rally.
Charlie Carter, of Cleckheaton, navigates for Forrest in all rallies and managed to claim the personal award of navigators' championship for the competition and to add to the triumph, Forrest also claimed the drivers' championship.
Forrest said: "We have competed in this championship for the last three years and we decided that this year we would build the car up and have a really good go at winning and thankfully the plan worked."
The pair have completed more than 40 rallies together over a five-year period and their experience and skill finally paid off as they delighted themselves with the prestigious victory.
They will be looking to continue their fine performances in future competitions.
