BULLS have signed a versatile player with vast Super League experience in Rhys Evans, according to delighted coach John Kear.
The 26-year-old can play as a centre, wing or full-back, and it is hoped his versatility will be key for Bulls next season.
Evans, who has signed a one-year deal at Odsal, is also the Bulls' last signing of the winter.
He started his career at Warrington Wolves in 2010, going on to play 105 games, scoring 45 tries for the Super League giants over the next seven years.
He also had loan spells at Leigh Centurions, Swinton Lions and North Wales Crusaders
Evans joins Bulls after spending the 2018 season at Leigh Centurions, scoring four tries in 12 appearances.
He also has international experience, playing three times for Wales, who also coached by Kear, although he has yet to play for his country under his new club coach. Evans made his Wales debut in their opening match of the 2013 World Cup. He also made one appearance for England Knights in 2012.
Kear revealed he first explored signing Evans after he talked with his twin brother, fellow international Ben, who has signed for Toulouse Olympique, during the autumn internationals with Wales, which finished last month.
He said: "I'm delighted we have got Rhys.
"He will give us a physical presence. He is very quick indeed.
"He has played more than 100 Super League signing for a Super League team in Warrington Wolves.
"I feel he has a lot to bring to us as a team and as a group, both in the 17-man squad and developing our younger players as well.
"I'm really looking forward to him having a presence, both on and off the field.
"He is the final piece of the jigsaw. I will put my cue back in the rack now.
"I believe I have a squad that are good enough to play in the Championship. It's a really exciting team. I'm absolutely dead chuffed.
“I’m really pleased that we have brought Rhys on board, he is someone that I myself have admired as a player for many years.
“With his introduction, there’s going to be even further competition for places in an extremely impressive three-quarter line.
“He brings a lot of experience to the side and we know from his career history that he is going to be a menace in the Championship.
“Rhys is just another important piece to the growing jigsaw puzzle here at Bradford, and we can’t wait to see what he can offer the club.”
"The board of directors and chairman Andrew Chalmers, have backed us with our recruitment.
Kear was speaking about his transfer coup at the official launch of the Yorkshire Cup held in Batley yesterday.
The eight-team pre-season tournament will feature eight teams from across the region battle it out for bragging rights.
Bulls will be competing against York City Knights, Hunslet Parkside, Dewsbury Rams, Featherstone, Batley Bulldogs, Hunslet and Halifax to become first-ever winners of the trophy.
The action will kick off on the weekend of January 5 and 6. Matches will be played at Odsal on January 6, with Batley Bulldogs taking on Hunslet, followed by Bulls entertaining Halifax.
The winners of these four matches over the two days will battle it out in the semi-finals, to be played on January 12 and 13. The Yorkshire Cup final will take place on Sunday, January 20.
Kear said he is looking forward to seeing his side take part in the event.
He added: “The cup will mean we can give people game time.
“I’m sure we will get a lot of support for our games at Odsal.
"The fans will have the chance to cheer on during meaningful pre-season matches now.
“I feel that the cup will be good for our preparation for the new season.”
