A WONDERFUL night was had by all as 2018 Betfred World Snooker Champion Mark Williams put on a show at the Shipley and District Social Club, with three century breaks in 10 exhibition matches.
The event was very well attended and organiser Keith Walker was thrilled to have the 'Welsh Potting Machine' present. There was some outstanding snooker throughout the night, with former World Final referee Michaela Tabb overseeing proceedings.
Frame number five was played by Stan Moody, who is only 12 and is a player for the future. The youngster already boasts a high break of 96, and scored 19 in his frame against Williams.
Ben Aykroyd picked up the most points of Williams' opponents, losing 105-33 in the third frame. The Welshman was decidedly less generous elsewhere, as he showed why he is one of the sport's leading players.
He restricted poor Richard Harrison to zero points with a 127-0 win in the penultimate match, while his highest break came in the fourth frame with 117, as he dismantled Lewis Walsh 132-4.
His other century breaks came against Jason Walton (101) and Dave Robson (105).
The results of the 10 frames, with Williams' highest break in brackets, were:
1 James Metcalfe 105-8 (59), 2 Jason Walton 132-9 (101), 3 Ben Aykroyd 105-33 (57), 4 Lewis Walsh 132-4 (117), 5 Stan Moody 98-19 (32), 6 Jay Garbett 110-13 (57), 7 Aaron Beschizza 111-19 (90), 8 Dave Robson 127-4 (105), 9 Richard Harrison 127-0 (70), 10 Lewis Harper 120-13 (57).
