DALTON Grant believes John Kear has got him back to the level he wants to be.

The Bulls winger will team up with his club coach again this weekend for Wales.

They face France in Carcassone at the start of the European Championship and 2021 World Cup qualifiers.

And Grant is grateful for Kear helping to get him back on track this year after injury.

He said: “Personally it’s been a great year coming back from my injuries. I’ve managed to play a full season and get my first promotion with one of the biggest rugby league teams.

“I feel like I’m back to where I want to be. I struggled through the season a little bit as I had a tear in my groin that a lot of people didn’t know about, so I’ve done well to get through.

“People forget I was out for nearly two years so this season has been a real positive, crossing for 20 tries and I want to keep that going.

“My main goal is just maintaining that performance now that I’m fit. I’ve got a little operation out of the way, and John wanted me in the Welsh team so I’m here and more than happy.

“He trusted me when I made the decision to come up from London and I trusted him. He’s spoken to me about the season and any time I get to play under him is an honour.”

Grant, who has got five caps under his belt, is excited by the different challenge of playing in Welsh colours again.

He added: “It’s always an honour representing your country and singing that anthem. It is something I look forward to every year and I will always wear that badge with pride.

“Internationals are a fun time of year, getting together and playing with boys from different clubs that you don’t get to see too often. Hopefully we can build towards another World Cup.

“We’ve played together for 10 years some of us, basically growing up together. There’s a really nice environment in the squad so everyone is buzzing and it really boosts you.”
