TEENAGE martial arts star Becca Young has passed her black belt in Bushido Ryu karate at the age just 14.
She started training at King’s Karate Club, which alternates its location between Wyke and Idle, five years ago. In addition to her love of dance and performing arts, she thought it would be fun to try karate.
After a few years of training she decided to stop dancing and focus fully on karate and has never looked back.
Over the last 12 months, Becca has become an assistant club coach, which has led to her achieving her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
Becca has also won many karate titles this year and has been selected for the Shindo-Kai Karate Association Kata Squad.
However, her biggest achievement came last weekend when she travelled to Barnsley and successfully passed her black belt with distinction.
Her coach Scott King said: "Becca is highly thought of at King’s Karate Club and is a role model for all the students coming through. I could not be more proud of what she has achieved so far and this is only the beginning.”
Becca herself said: “I am very proud of myself and would like to thank everyone who has supported me in achieving my goals.”
If you would like to learn karate and train with Becca, contact Scott King on 07747 624437. King’s Karate Club is located at Appleton Academy in Wyke on Mondays and Thursdays and at Footsteps Theatre School in Idle on Wednesdays and Fridays.
