There was a soggy finale to the Airedale & Wharfedale's Eady Rose Pairs at Yeadon Park, and it was the younger pairing of Luke Teale and Robbie Ellis who came out on top, defeating Gary Whelan and Tommy Cater, who were thus runners-up for the second time in three years.
The clouds were already gathering when the semi-finals started, and Rick and Adam Briggs led Teale and Ellis 5-1 before a run of 11 put the latter 12-5 ahead, which later became 15-6.
The Briggs' pulled three back before the heavens opened and the green flooded, but after the deluge Teale and Ellis triumphed 21-9.
In the other semi-final, Cater and Whelan led Dianne and Danny Teale 5-1 and 11-4.
However, three pairs made it 11-10, only for a two and a three against a one to put Cater and Whelan 16-10 ahead when play was halted.
After that, Dianne had no chance of reaching the longer mark on a wet green, and the Teales went out 21-11.
