Blyth Spartans 1 Bradford (Park Avenue) 2
TWO goals from new striker Jake Beesley fired Avenue to their second Vanarama National League North win of the new season.
Mark Bower's side were quickly into their stride as they looked to build on Saturday's 1-0 win over FA Trophy winners Brackley Town.
Thy went ahead after just 11 minutes when Beesley latched onto a through ball and rounded goalkeeper Pete Jameson before slotting the ball into the net.
Avenue had further chances to extend their lead through Nicky Clee and Nicky Wroe, but they needed a timely goalline block from Luca Havern to preserve their lead just before half-time.
Blyth started the second half brightly and Jamie Holmes forced a magnificent save from Steve Drench.
Boss Bower sent on substitute Jamie Spencer late in the game and he made a quick impact. He fired in a low cross which Beesley steered home to make it 2-0 in the 85th minute.
Blyth hit back when Sean Reid headed home a left-wing cross three minutes later, but they could not deny Avenue their victory.
