Women's Super League: Bradford Bulls 4 St Helens 42
BRADFORD Bulls, treble winners last season, have now lost both of their games so far this season in the Women's Super League.
Following their 32-16 defeat against derby rivals Leeds Rhinos, the Bulls women went down 42-4 against St Helens yesterday, again at Odsal.
Missing the injured Amy Hardcastle, the hosts brought Anna Simpson into the centres, Chrissi Nettleton at hooker and Reagan Walker at loose forward, while only Memphis Judd remained from the bench against the Rhinos as she was joined by Kelly Wood, Stacey Wilson and Dani Titterington.
Saints, inspired by Faye Gaskin, made a brisk start and led 12-0 after seven minutes via tries by Gaskin and Chantelle Crowl, both of which were improved by Gaskin.
However, the Bulls got on the board in the 14th minute when Kirsty Moroney found space down the left and put former Northern Ireland football international Leah Jones over for her second try of the season.
However, although Jones was hauled into touch just before the line and Saints also conceded a goal-line drop out, the visitors added tries by Gaskin and Crowl before half-time, one of which was improved by Gaskin to make it 22-4.
Again the Bulls forced a goal-line drop-out in the second half, but they could not add to their solitary try and conceded scores to Roxy Mura, Chantelle Hill, Gaskin and Katie-May Williams, with Gaskin adding two goals.
