ECCLESHILL United were the lucky ones last night as they ticked off another fixture, while the other six games in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League all fell foul of the weather.
The Eagles were not fortunate on the pitch though as they succumbed to a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Winterton Rangers, while four games in the Premier Division and the other two in Division One were all postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
Sean Reagan’s men had a dream start as they broke the deadlock in the fifth minute, with Luke Harrop’s excellent strike curling into the top corner.
The Eagles could have gone into the break with a bigger margin, but Winterton came back at their visitors after the interval and, after a good second half, eventually got their reward.
Jack Turnbull’s well-placed header to a good cross from the right-hand side just into time added on earned them a deserved point.
The draw leaves the Eagles in second place, while Rangers remain just outside the play-off places.
