CITY'S match at home to MK Dons today is off.
Referee Ben Toner pulled the plug two hours before the scheduled kick-off time because areas of the pitch were waterlogged.
Ground staff had been at Valley Parade since 6.30am forking the surface but the ball still did not roll freely on some sections.
Stadium and operations manager Paula Watson said: “The decision could have been done earlier and we would have been financially way better off.
"But everybody wanted that game on and we believed we had a huge chance.
“Had the rain come an hour earlier Saturday morning then it would have been on. But we had the downpour at 9am and I think that’s what killed us off.”
