THE weather played havoc with the latest round of Bradford League fixtures but it did not stop Dewsbury Tog B collecting another victory to keep them at the summit of Division One.
Tog were at Hermits A and whenever Sam Clayton is in the Hermits line-up, they are tough to beat.
Clayton has only played three matches for Hermits so far but he has yet to lose and Tog had to dig deep to claim the points.
He maintained his unbeaten record but was pushed to the limit – first by Phil Cawser, who he pipped 14-12 in the fifth game, and then by Ivan Lewis, who led 2-1 before Clayton edged the last two games 14-12, 11-9.
Matthew Shaw beat Steve Kosmowsky to put Hermits 4-3 up and scenting victory.
But Tog rallied, with Cawser and Kosmowsky taking the last two singles before Cawser and Lewis sealed the 6-4 victory by taking the doubles 3-2.
In Division Four, it was third time lucky for Baildon D when they faced Hermits I.
Baildon had lost on both previous occasions to Hermits this season but the visitors were without John Margerison and Baildon capitalised with a solid team performance to win 6-4.
They led 4-1 and 5-3 as Allen Pollard and Kevin Flaherty both won twice, with Allan Towriss adding a single.
Stuart Stead and Brian Cooper won two each for Hermits but it was not enough as Pollard and Flaherty took the deciding doubles 11-7 in the fifth game.
Results – Division One: Dewsbury Tog B 3 Embassy Police A 7, Hermits A 4 Dewsbury Tog B 6. Division Two: Unity A 6 Baildon A 4. Division 3 Pudsey C 6 Hermits F 4, Hermits F 6 Baildon B 4. Division 4 Baildon D 6 Hermits I 4.
