CAPTAIN Lee Smith has hailed the professionalism of his Bulls team-mates following last weekend's 15-try Ladbrokes Challenge Cup demolition of West Wales Raiders.
A scintillating attacking performance saw the hosts rack up an 82-6 win, utility star Elliot Minchella stealing the show with a quintet of tries to put the Betfred League One outfit to the sword.
Dane Chisholm made his long-awaited return to don the red, amber and black jersey following injury as John Kear's men sealed their second successive 2018 win in style.
Smith paid tribute to his side's attitude and drive to avoid a cup upset at the hands of the Raiders.
"First and foremost we are just happy to be in the hat for the next round – that was the main priority for us" said former Leeds Rhinos player Smith.
"To score 82 points against any side is a great performance. I thought the boys were ruthless and professional in how we went about our work.
"There are a lot of positives to take. We did the basics well but there is always room for improvement.
"If we play with that attitude and intensity week in, week out then we will not be far off at the end of the year.
"The Ladbrokes Challenge Cup is a prestigious competition and we want to progress and go far. The excitement of the cup is not lost on us."
Focus now switches back to Betfred League One action as Smith and his team-mates prepare to welcome London Skolars tomorrow, weather permitting.
Kear's men will look to continue their 100 per cent start to the season, while their southern opponents head into the game looking for their first victory in the league.
Turning Odsal into a fortress will be pivotal to the Bulls' success this term, admits Smith, who acknowledges the need to maintain the same levels of ruthlessness.
"It is another challenge. We will not underestimate them but we are focused on reaching the levels we know we can achieve," said the skipper.
"They are dangerous as they are a bit of an unknown quantity – but if we start well, it should make for a good performance.
"We are at home in front of our supporters. We want to repay their faith in us and make it a place for the opposition to fear coming to this season."
