Competitors may have come from as far afield as Stourbridge, Salford and Billingham but that didn't stop City of Bradford Swimming Club gaining a healthy haul of medals in their Open End of Season Meet at Shipley Pool.

Medals for club members were numerous but notable achievements came from Harryson Stirk, who swam to four gold medals in the 11 years' age group, Skipton's James Dawson, who claimed four golds in the 12 years' age group and 13-year-old Isaac Ehdieb, who received three golds.

Other gold-medal winners were Ellie and Imogen Talbot, Lily Preston, Rebecca Lund, Jemma Walker, Lorna and Hazel Dawson, Megan Bowes-Ayres, Sian Freeman, Marie Collier, Lauren Sharp and Elise Johnson.

In addition, golds went to Jennifer Bonson, Kirsty Mann, Melissa Speight, Sadie Dalton, Sarah Chown, James and Thomas Brown, plus Courtney Sidhu, Lewis Sharp, Joshua Zenner, Luke Constantine, Joseph Conway, Matthew Brown and Joshua Walker.

Speeding tickets were awarded to swimmers who swim faster and achieved times faster than the grade of meet that they have entered.

Those swimmers receiving speeding tickets included Niki Chatburn (five) and Lauren Sharp, Lydia Biddsicombe and Joshus Zenner (four each), all of whom achieved top-ten places.

The meet proved attractive to youngsters who wanted to set faster qualifying times for meets in the autumn.
