Gareth Evans and Adam Sagar bowed out of the English Amateur Championship at Royal St Georges today after reaching the matchplay stages.
Evans, of Northcliffe, lost to Wentworth's Steve Benson in the first round by 2&1 after qualifying in 27th place with a 72 at St Georges and a 73 at Royal Cinque Ports.
Sagar, of Keighley, qualified for the preliminary matchplay round after finishing among a clutch of players tied for 64th following rounds of 77 (St Georges) and 72 (Cinque Ports). He also lost 2&1 to Tom Oliver from Radcliffe-on-Trent.
Northcliffe's Rob Hillas failed to qualify after rounds of 72 (St Georges) and 84 (Cinque Ports).
