THE weekend’s action gets underway tomorrow night, with Silsden looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season in Division One of the Hallmark Security League when they host Nelson.
After 17 straight victories, the Cobbydalers are sitting pretty at the summit and, despite last Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Holker Old Boys, with the Cumbrian outfit snatching a stoppage-time winner, Danny Forrest’s men retained their 13-point cushion at the top as all of the top four sides were beaten.
Visitors Nelson are rock bottom, six points below the current safety mark and are also bottom of the form table.
They have picked up just five points so far and have a minus-31 goal difference.
Silsden will wear black armbands and there will be a minute's silence before kick-off in memory of Steeton stalwart David Baxter.
Thackley will climb above neighbours Liversedge in the top tier of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League with a home win against relegation-threatened Harrogate Railway Athletic on Saturday.
The Dennyboys are enduring a modest season but would overhaul tenth- placed Sedge with a maximum against the Rail, who are third from bottom.
Sedge and Albion Sports, Thackley’s Premier Division rivals, have no fixtures this weekend after Sedge won 3-0 at Albion’s rented home of Throstle Nest on Wednesday night.
Eccleshill United are joint second in Division One, behind Yorkshire Amateur on goal difference but with a game hand.
The Eagles host lower-mid-table Dronfield Town, and a home win would take them top, if the top two falter, as Sean Regan’s men are just two points off the summit following a superb run of form.
Campion have slipped to seventh after spending most of the first three months of the season in the play-off places.
James Bicknell’s men have a chance to break back in if they can get return to winning ways at newcomers East Yorkshire Carnegie.
Campion go into the game after back-to-back away defeats, with their last coming at Dronfield a week ago.
